Ellie and my dad chilling out watching some Stewart Varney (or "Stupid Barney" as Emmy calls him).
My Aunt DeAnna, dad, and Uncle Al

Emmy quietly approaches the sleeping cuddle monster...

Eeeeeeek! He wasn't really sleeping!!!!

Oh noooooo! He's really got her now! Is there any hope at all?!

A quick tickle! She's in for it now!

He's pulling her in to cuddle her to death! "HELP MAMA!!!!"
THE SLEEPING/CUDDLE MONSTER WINS AGAIN! ONE IN THE FAMILY IS ENOUGH!!!! LOL!
Baby Ellie's first trip to the park! She LOVED the swings. It was the first nice day we have had in a long time so we had to get out and enjoy it!
Our relatives, Ken and Rita Ford came to visit us and brought Emmy and Ellie each a Pillow Pet. Emmy now has two ladybugs! (I'm actually super glad because now one can live at Grandma and Grandpa's and I don't have to keep carting them all around!)
I wanted a yummy Cheeseburger for my Birthday dinner (hey, I'm pretty low-maintenance!) so we went to Five Guys Burgers and Fries. It was perfect!
Here are some highlights to the past month:
1) Ellie got her two bottom teeth! She can roll from her tummy to her back pretty easily, it's just going the other way that hangs her up! She is so close to being able to really sit up on her own. Right now she is just a bit top heavy but she will get it in her own sweet time. There is no rush!
2) We had Ellie's 6 month photos taken and she absolutely REFUSED to give us her easy, full-face smile like she usually does. We still think she's a cutie even if she ends up looking more pensive then happy.
3) My dad came out and visited for a few days. During that time he taught Emmy the "Sleeping Cuddle Monster" game that my sisters, dad, and I used to play when we were little. He would pretend to sleep on the floor, we would tiptoe up to him to touch him and take off running before he could grab us and cuddle us to death. I remember that there was a lot of high-pitched little girl squealing and just like the past, Emmy didn't disappoint! She caught on pretty quickly and it became her favorite game EVER! She wore my dad out I think!
4) My Aunt DeAnna and Uncle Al drove over from the Oregon Coast to visit for a few hours while my dad was here. It was really wonderful seeing them and visiting. I loved to hear stories from the Varholdt side of my family.
5) My 33rd birthday happened on April 7th. It was exactly one year ago on April 6th that I was at my mom's doctor's appointment where we were told that my mom had Stage 4 Lung Cancer. My 32nd Birthday was pretty devastating as you can only imagine. Soooooo, this year, I decided early on that no matter what activities were in the line-up to celebrate my birthday, it would be so great compared to last year. Tony was scheduled to be flying over that time so he planned a wonderful day for me this past Saturday and I had a really good time. On April 5th I received a package in the mail from my mom's friend, Mary. I opened it and immediately started crying because I recognized my mom's cowgirl boot wrapping paper. The front of the envelope said "Happy Birthday From Heaven". My mom had recorded herself reading "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" to me on a "Record-A-Book" only a week or two before she died. It was the saddest, most wonderful gift I could have received. Boy did I have a good cry over that one! I will cherish it forever.
Anyhow, enough of that! I am just so very thankful that as of this moment, my family and friends are all healthy and I never appreciated that more than I do now. What more could I ask for?
