What a special day it was today! Our beautiful baby girl was baptised and she was surrounded by so many wonderful friends and family. I've included a bunch of pictures from today but I thought I'd tell you about some of the things that we didn't capture in photos...
Emmy started stripping her clothes off pretty much the second we entered the church. Her jacket, then her sweater, and she managed to get one shoe off before we stopped her! In her defense, it's REALLY hard to run as fast as you can around the church with shoes and sweaters and stuff slowing you down!
Anyhow, Emerson really was pretty good through this whole thing but she was a bit antsy (she IS 2 1/2!) and her patience for this whole deal was DONE. She didn't want Tony to hold her so we had to let her roam free which was fine but sometimes it is nice to know that you literally have a hold of your child so they can only get into so much trouble. Roaming free however... well, it's risky business! I'm proud to report that other than standing on her tippy toes to try to look into the baptismal fount, she did great. Ellie this whole time was just chillin' in my arms wondering what was going on. She didn't even cry when water was put on her head. However, after Pastor Bill blessed her with the water the first time and tried to bless her again Ellie grabbed his hand to stop him before he could put water on her head again. That got a chuckle. She's a smart girl!
Other than that, it was nice to be surrounded by my church family, Tony's parents, and our dear friends Brad and Pam Maas and their two girls. This was definitly an occassion however where my mom's presence was missed. I like to think she was there though...
We celebrated afterwards by going to lunch at McGraths Fish house and straight home to put our two exhausted girls down for a nap. That's where we are now... peace and quiet. AHHHHH! However, knowing Ellie (my non-napper) I probably only have another 15 minutes before she wakes up realizing that she has been douped into taking a nap! "WHERE'S MAMA AND PAPA?!?!?!!" No complaining here though! How nice to be missed THAT much even after just a brief rest!
